Gage ends his poisoning of the official investigation well by ripping the 9/11 Commission unfairly.

Gage includes no information on why Max Cleland left the 9/11 Commission.

The delay in the NIST Final Report on Building 7 is explained, as is their use of a contractor to do grunt work for them.

Gage's fourth and fifth point are denied

Slides #45-47 - "Government Documentation" Conclusion

This slide, this slide, and this slide are actually the same slide, revealed part by part during Gage's presentation. At his website, Gage shows this effect by reproducing it twice or three times with new information revealed on subsequent slides. However, I'm going to treat this slide and others like it on a single page.

The 9/11 Commission Report

What the 9/11 Commission Report is doing in a list of official reports on the collapse of the WTC buildings, I'll never understand.

I get the fact that it's a favorite punching bag for conspiracy theorists, just like the Warren Commission report before it. However, their failure to understand what the 9/11 Commission was doing isn't evidence of what the 9/11 Commission report was ignoring.

What was the purpose of the 9/11 Commission?

We have come together with a unity of purpose because our nation demands it. September 11, 2001, was a day of unprecedented shock and suffering in the history of the United States. The nation was unprepared. How did this happen, and how can we avoid such tragedy again?

"The nation was unprepared. How did this happen, and how can we avoid such tragedy again?" The reason why any building collapsed on 9/11 is not germane to these two questions. That study was left to others better qualified, while the 9/11 Commission focused on the issues within its mandate.

This is not ignoring, but prioritizing.

Max Cleland's Resignation

Therefore, a subject such as Cleland's resignation from the 9/11 Commission is really beside the point here. It had nothing to do with the collapse of the buildings, and Gage's citation of the resignation has everything to do with bashing one more government report on 9/11.

Max Cleland is the best source for the reasons he quit the 9/11 Commission, and I'll let him explain:

First of all, as someone who co-sponsored legislation creating the 9/11 commission, against great opposition from the White House, this independent commission should be independent and should not be making deals with anybody. I start from there. It's been painfully obvious the administration not only fought the creation of the commission but that their objective was the war in Iraq, and one of the notions that was built on was there was a direct connection between al Qaida and 9/11 and Saddam Hussein. There was not.

So therefore they didn't want the 9/11 commission to get going. What you have is the fear from the White House that the commission would uncover pretty quickly the fact that one of four legs that the war stood on was nonexistent. So they slow-walked it, and they continue to slow-walk it. They want to kick this can down past the elections. We should not be making any deals; we should stick to our original timetable of [completing the final report by] May. However, we're coming up on Thanksgiving here and we're still struggling over access issues. It should be a national scandal.

Whether you agree with Cleland or not, his stated reasons for resigning have nothing to do with the building collapses. The issue is entirely separate from the issues facing the FEMA and NIST studies.

FEMA's "Waffling"

I've already shown you that FEMA was simply stating the limits of what they could determine, as good researchers do. Gage calls this waffling, I call it responsibility.

The Delay on the NIST Final Report on Building 7

I've stated before that the delay on this report is now proverbial. However the latest update from NIST has revealed some of the reasons for this.

The type of computer modelling being done on Building 7 is cutting edge stuff. Developing a computerized structural model of a 47-story building is a gargantuan task. Using that model to then carry out fully propagated collapse simulations for several different hypotheses is equally as massive a task.

This is what drew NIST most towards an examination of 7 World Trade. By developing a procedure from the ground up whereby other buildings can be examined in the future, before construction and after collapses, NIST is paving the way for greater human knowledge and safer and more efficient buildings. The delay is inevitable because it is not on the timetable of armchair detectives using misinformation and lies to raise money for their occasional holiday trips around the nation. It is on the timetable of getting it right.

Applied Research Associates

Gage's hysteria over this innocuous contract is one of his more stupid mistakes. In fact, this contract is so shocking that NIST published the details on the Internet for anyone to read!

His misunderstanding stems from his refusal to understand what's happening in the NIST examination of Building 7. Applied Research Associates has been subcontracted by NIST to conduct the building analyses from floors 8 through 46. The contract states that NIST will be providing them with the various inputs that they will be processing.

The analyses will determine the series of component and subsystem failures subsequent to the initiating event that led to global collapse that are consistent with observations from video and photographic records and other evidence. NIST will conduct all fire analysis of the building and analysis of the structural response to fires in-house and supply ARA initiating event data based on the in-house analyses.

In other words, NIST farmed out some grunt work. The floor layouts of those floors are very much alike. By letting another company manage the propagation of these very similar floors, NIST can concentrate on the crucial floors.

This is not "punting," but prioritizing.

Gage should put away his Hercule Poirot costume and leave the building analysis to the professionals.

Two Further Points Denied

In this section, Gage slipped in a second point while discussing his first.

As far as "government documentation" is concerned, this is nonsensical as a feature of controlled demolition. Controlled demolitions don't get investigation after investigation to determine what happens, and Gage doesn't even pretend to offer any actual documentation that you'd expect from a CD. This was just an excuse for Gage to bash his professional betters. The point is denied.

The steel structure being broken apart for shipment is also denied, since the steel had to undergo further processing at the NY landfills before they could be used by steel mills.

Gage is 0-5 as far as proving his list of CD features applying to 7 World Trade. This is not looking good.
